My second visit to the Portland Rescue Mission was no less inspiring than the first. Although I expected to be met with some oppositions, for the most part, I received smiles and invitations by very friendly people to take their picture. We spent the better part of a day between the Mission’s three locations, documenting their daily routines and all the moments in between. Volunteers serving dinner, guests talking to one another about life, staff transitioning the chapel from prayer time to bed time – those are the kinds of activities I photographed. The Mission’s great work was evident in the faces of so many people; I am thankful to have an organization like this in my city.
